Safe Operation Review & Competence Assessment

Introduction
This is a practical programme designed to assess candidates' safe switching practices when operating on high voltage power systems. It is intended for candidates requiring independent external assessment of their level of competence.
Participants
Electrical engineers/ supervisors / technicians / electricians responsible for the inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of high and low voltage systems.
Aim
To assess the competency of electrical personnel prior to becoming an authorised person for safety and operational switching duties of electrical power systems. It includes theoretical, verbal and practical assessment. This is an individual assessment and most dates can be arranged to suit clients' requirements.
Outline Contents
- Determination of required individual competence levels
- Summary of electrical protection
- Operational and safety features of switchgear
- Practical demonstration by tutor of appropriate switchgear
- Individual practical competence exercises, including switching/safety document issue, as appropriate
- Theoretical paper
- Course review
Certification
Candidates who successfully complete the theoretical and practical competence assessments, will receive a Faraday 'Competence' certificate. Candidates who fail or do not wish to undertake the competence assessments will receive a Faraday 'Attendance' certificate.
