NICEIC Domestic Installer Scheme Qualification (DISQ) (NIC DISQ)
Introduction
The course is designed to allow non-electrical people to undertake basic electrical work as part of their main work function. Within the 5-day course, candidates are introduced to the 'Building Regulations'. These regulations are applicable to any property that electrical or any other work is undertaken. At the end of the course, candidates will only be able to inspect, test or certify their own work and not other people's work. This work would then have to be notified to your scheme provider who will notify the local 'Building Control Office' on your behalf. It is a requirement of the course that candidates bring along a copy of the BS7671(2008) IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations, a copy of the IEE On-site Guide and a copy of Guidance Note 3 as well as any relevant NICEIC technical publications.Participants
The course is intended for people who undertake basic electrical work as part of their normal occupation, e.g. kitchen fitter or a builder who might wish to undertake a property rewire at the same time as other building works. At the end of the course, the candidate will have to register with the NICEIC DISQ and undertake a half day onsite inspection for at least 2 completed works that he/she has undertaken within the last 6 months. The inspection will be undertaken by a NICEIC area engineer and if everything is satisfactory, the engineer can recommend that the candidate to be accepted as a "Electrical Domestic Installer" on the NICEIC DISQ scheme.Certification
