Electrical Protection Courses
The Faraday Training Centre’s protection courses provide a comprehensive awareness level training (P2) following a 5 day intense electrical power systems protection course (P1). You will find further details on these courses below:
-
MTR – Appreciation of Low Voltage Three Phase Motors Principles & Protection
This course covers the design, construction and operation of induction, synchronous, and variable-speed low voltage AC motors including techniques for motor starting and operation. The course includes both theoretical and practical operation and testing of three phase motors.
-
P1 – Protection of Electrical Power Systems
The course covers the application and testing of electrical protection in-depth and involves a number of practical exercises and demonstrations combined with classroom theory. A wide range of protective devices are used during the course including electromechanical, microprocessor-based and numerical relays.
-
P2 – Overview of Electrical Power Systems Protection
This course explains the operation of electrical protection devices and their application to different zones of a power system. It involves a number of practical exercises and demonstrations combined with classroom theory. This is a stand-alone course and not a precursor to the P1 course.
