Marine / Offshore High Voltage Courses
The Faraday Training Centre delivers a wide range of Marine/Offshore high voltage courses, catering for all delegates from those with basic knowledge and experience to those more advanced.
MCA2 – High Voltage Training Operational Level (MCA Approved)
This course is approved by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) in line with the requirements laid down by the STCW (Manila amendments 2010) to operate high voltage systems in accordance with the knowledge, understanding and proficiencies for high voltage installations set out in tables A-III/1 (part) of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.
MCA4 – High Voltage Training Management Level (MCA approved)
This course is approved by the MCA (Maritime & Coastguard Agency) and is in line with the requirements laid down by the STCW (Manila amendments 2010) for revalidation of Chief Engineer Officer CoC Reg and Second Engineer Officers. III/2 and III/3 (Management Level). The course meets the requirements of the MNTB Shipboard High Voltage Training guidelines.
MAR1 – The Safe Operation of Marine/Offshore High Voltage Power Systems (Limited High Voltage Authorisation)
This is an introductory training programme that requires a basic level of electrical knowledge. Upon successful completion of the course and subject to client approval, delegates will be able to enter marine/offshore high voltage switchrooms and perform limited switching operations on high voltage equipment. Delegates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for an authorised person (AP) issuing documents for work on single end circuits only.
MAR2 – The Safe Operation of Marine ROV Power Systems
This course aims to provide candidates with the competency necessary to safely access the electrical components of ROV (remotely operated vehicles) including the safety procedures required to ensure that equipment is isolated, proved dead and earthed.
MAR4/OS4 – The Safe Operation of Marine/Offshore High Voltage Power Systems (Full High Voltage Authorisation)
This course provides an understanding of marine/offshore high and low voltage power systems including statutory regulations, safe operation, protection and fault diagnosis on a wide range of power equipment. It enables candidates to perform advanced HV switching operations on marine/offshore HV networks up to and including 15kV and prepare them for HV authorisation in accordance with their company’s safety rules/regulations. It includes both classroom theory and practical exercises. Upon completion, candidates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for switching and issuing documents for work on all types of circuit.
MAR5 – Refresher in the Safe Operation of Marine/Offshore High Voltage Power Systems (Full High Voltage Authorisation)
This training programme is designed to refresh the knowledge and skills of the candidates relating to safe practices and legislation applicable to Maritime/Offshore high voltage power systems.
MAR7 – Principles of the Safe Operation of Marine/Offshore High Voltage Power Systems
This is an advanced training programme that requires previous HV experience and a good foundation of electrical knowledge of high voltage power systems. This course has been developed to meet the requirements of the safe operation of high voltage systems in marine/offshore applications (excluding control systems). This course is more advanced than the MAR4 course and includes a broader technical emphasis. Upon completion, candidates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for switching and issuing documents for work on all types of circuit.
