    3 Day Course

    • S13 – Refresher in the Safe Operation of High Voltage Power Systems (Full High Voltage Authorisation based on Transmission & Generation Safety Rules)

The aim of this course is to provide refresher training to Senior Authorised Personnel with a responsibility for carrying out high voltage switching duties and the issue of safety documents associated with such work. This course is designed to refresh the candidates’ knowledge and skills relating to safe practices and legislation applicable to high voltage power systems. It enables candidates to perform advanced HV switching operations on industrial HV networks up to and including 15kV or 33kV.  It includes both classroom theory and practical exercises.

S1 – The Safe Operation of High Voltage Power Systems (Limited High Voltage Authorisation)

The S1 course introduces the safe operation of high voltage power systems for non-electrical/electrical personnel who are required to enter high voltage switchrooms and perform limited switching operations. The method of delivery of this course includes both classroom theory and practical exercises. Upon completion, delegates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for an authorised person (AP) switching and issuing documents for work on single end circuits only.

    • HAZ1 – Safe Use of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas

This course is designed for personnel working within hazardous area environments. The course provides a theoretical overview of the hazards associated with installing, operating and maintaining electrical equipment within potentially explosive areas. This is not a COMP-EX course however the same theories, details and standards are covered.

    • MAR7 – Principles of the Safe Operation of Marine/Offshore High Voltage Power Systems

This is an advanced training programme that requires previous HV experience and a good foundation of electrical knowledge of high voltage power systems. This course has been developed to meet the requirements of the safe operation of high voltage systems in marine/offshore applications (excluding control systems). This course is more advanced than the MAR4 course and includes a broader technical emphasis. Upon completion, candidates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for switching and issuing documents for work on all types of circuit.

    • S8 – The Safe Receipt of Sanction for Test Documents

This course is designed to enable those who are required to carry out testing on high voltage equipment to become authorised to receive sanction for test documents in relation to safe practices and legislation applicable to high voltage power systems up to and including 15kV. It includes both classroom theory and practical exercises. Upon completion, candidates will be assessed to a competency level suitable for an Authorised Person (AP) requiring receipt of sanction for test documents.
